It will take place between May 16th to August 15th, 2024.

On May 16th, Dra. Barbieri scientific vessel set sail from Valparaíso´s Port to carry out “Yellow shrimp red shrimp and nylon shrimp direct evaluation , between the Regions of Antofagasta and Biobío” the project leadership is led by the Researcher Carolina Lang. The captain of the ship is Rolando Cabrera, and as head of the cruise ship is the fishing engineer Bernardo Leiva.

Gonzalo Pereira, IFOP’s Executive Director, expressed “this is a new milestone for Dra. Barbieri’s ship, which set sail on the first crustacean research cruise, between Antofagasta and Santa María Island in the south of Chile, a total of 20 participating people among crew, researchers from our direct evaluation department as well as from the oceanography and environment department and scientific observers.

For us, this cruise is tremendously important because we are beginning a new stage, in which we have two scientific vessels carrying out parallel research work, which previously had to be done alternately either with the Abate Molina or with leased vessels. I have to highlight that this first cruise has the participation of Ailyn Miranda as our pilot.”
