To ensure sustainability in the use and exploitation of marine resources; the divisions work is oriented to generate, develop and transfer knowledge of public value to provide authorities with the necessary information to continuously evaluate the status of the resources sustaining our country’s main national fisheries; the effects and variability of the marine environment as well as to evaluate the different exploitation strategies of our fisheries resources.

The Divisions main objective is to perform regular assessment of fisheries through follow-up projects, CTP and direct assessments required by SUBPESCA (Subsecretaría de Pesca y Acuicultura) to set fishing quotas and other management measures (e.g. Reproductive closures, recruitment closures among others), essential to public authorities to design, implement and monitor public policies inherent to the fisheries sector.
