    Monitoring of Red Tides

    Leonardo Guzman

    Main Project Manager. In charge of managing, controlling and overall coordination of the project, linking with other organizations associated with the project, dissemination of activities performed during the study and integrating information gathered in the course of the project.

    Gaston Vidal

    Alternate Director of the project. He is responsible for the management and coordination of the various working groups that make up the technical team. Technically controls the registration of field data and the analysis of samples, and is responsible for conducting the analysis of the information using multivariate statistical analysis for data reduction.

    Christián Espinoza

    Professional responsible for the monthly preparation of thematic maps associated with levels of toxicity and relative abundance of harmful species recorded in the three regions studied.

    Professional responsible for the qualitative analysis of phytoplankton in the region of Los Lagos, including estimates of relative abundance of harmful taxa considered in the study.

    Paola Hinojosa

    Professional responsible for the analysis of Amnesic Shellfish Poison by HPLC and nutrient analysis of water samples collected in the area covered by the study. Also does HPLC analysis on transvector samples that deliver positive results on mouse bioassay for Diarrheal Shellfish Poison, situations in which it is important to note the presence of okadaic acid and dinophysistoxins-1.

    Pedro Calabrano

    Assistant responsible for providing support to monitoring activities, both in collecting transvectors and seawater for the analysis of phytoplankton and zooplankton and recording meteorological variables, as well as sediment samples.

    Aysen Region

    Luis Iriarte

    Professional in charge of performing phytoplankton quantitative analysis in the region of Aysen. His tasks involves the analysis of this information and the preparation of monthly reports. Occasionally takes action to collect transvectors and water samples for analysis of phytoplankton, zooplankton and nutrients, in addition to recording oceanographic and meteorological variables in the Melinka area.

    Magallanes Region

    Gemita Pizarro

    Professional responsible for participating in the analysis of the basis of phytoplankton, toxicological and environmental data (oceanographic and meteorological) separately weighting different harmful taxa or potentially harmful, toxic complexes involved and environmental history recorded during the course of the study, covering the three regions of study: Los Lagos, Aysen and Magallanes. She is also responsible for the supervision and coordination of the work being done in the region of Magallanes.
