Both professionals were selected in the + Woman + Science + Equity program, which is a Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry of Colombia initiative, which is implemented in partnership with Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture Organization (OEI).

The program seeks to encourage young women’s scientific vocation and to strengthen their life project through connection, empowerment and leadership seeking their insertion into the Science, Technology and Innovation National System – SNCTI.

From Fisheries Development Institute, Dr. Jurleys Vellojin contacted the program to be the Institute’s ambassador and to participate as a mentor to both interns. In the same way, Dr. Vellojín generated opportune links so that Valentina Baracaldo and Andrea Jiménez were integrated into the projects of her interest, such as Environmental monitoring and Mutilid larval monitoring program, respectively.

Andrea will accompany us for a period of three months, while Valentina will do so for six months.

We hope that your stay in the south of Chile and your involvement in our research programs will be of learning, collaboration and a true inclusion in the productive tasks of our country and will help you to generate development in your own country. We hope these are memorable days that inspire you for a future research line.
