Awards were granted to workers who had 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15 and 10 years of service at IFOP.

The Instituto de Fomento Pesquero, IFOP was created in 1964 by the production Development Corporation (Corfo) and the National Fishing Society, through a project of International Technical Assistance in fishing matters between the Government of Chile, United Nations Development Programme  (UNDP), and the Organization of the United Nations for Agriculture (FAO).

The strategic role of the Fishing Promotion Institute (IFOP) relies on the ability to generate, develop and transfer useful knowledge, enabling our country to position itself, in a competitive and sustainable way, in the sector of aquaculture and fishing, especially for high public value research.

On this occasion, Leonardo Núñez, IFOP’s CEO  sent a greeting for the workers “On May 26th, 1964, IFOP was founded, and through its 53 years of existence, it has become a strategic institution for the country.

Our institute position, has been built over our daily activities carried out from Arica to Puerto Williams, the men and women who with devotion and commitment highlight IFOP’s work. In this context, there  is no doubt the fundamental basis of our institution, are  our employees that work in obtaining on the field data, processing; elaboration of technical reports, management, control and protection of infrastructure and the human group that works around Abate Molina, they worry about its administration and maintenance, and those who sail through our ocean for more than 250 days a year, I have been an eye-witness of the love and commitment that is shown in everything they do.

“On this anniversary I would like to take the opportunity to express my deep brotherly greeting to each of you on this special day and invite you altogether to continue to work hard to make our institution strong in spirit and conscious of the strategic value of their function for our loved country”.
