January 16th, 2023Today, January 6th. Abate Molina scientific vessel set sail from Valparaíso’s port to characterize and evaluate common sardine and anchovy resources stock of present between Valparaíso and Los Lagos regions using hydroacoustic methods, during peak recruitment and in immediate fall period.
On this scientific journey, as Abate’s captain is José Echeverría and as head of the cruise is Álvaro Saavedra, fishing engineer.
Specific objectives are:
- To estimate common anchovy and sardine resources stock size and their spatial distribution in maximum recruitment period to fishery present in research area.
- To characterize and to analyze in a spatial-temporal context, demographic composition and its interannual variation of the stocks evaluated by means of biological indicators.
- To characterize and to analyze bio-oceanographic conditions present in this research area and their relationship with spatial resources distribution.
- To characterize anchovy and common sardine resources aggregations at this research area.
