On year 2016, 8 research cruises were carried out with a total of 246 days of operation.

Valparaíso: On January 4 at 11:00 p.m. and during 30 days, a team of 26 professionals and technicians from the Instituto de Fomento Pesquero set sail from Valparaiso, on board the R.V. Abate Molina, to evaluate and characterize the stock of anchovy resources and common sardine, existing between the V and X Regions.

The study area extends across the northern boundary of the V region parallel (32º10’S) and the northern of Caleta Mansa (parallel 40º20’S)

The scientific expedition is led by the fishing engineer Álvaro Saavedra and the vessel Captain is Ivan Giakoni

The general objective of the study is to evaluate and characterize the stock of the anchovy and common sardine resources existing between the V and X Regions, through the Hydroacoustic method, during the period of maximum recruitment and in the immediate autumn.

With the information obtained in the scientific cruise, a report is made on the state of the resources.
