Marine Biology Student doing a professional internship at IFOP won “100 Young Chilean leaders” award given by “Sabado”, El Mercurio´s magazine
December 27th, 2017Beatriz Salgado Murillo, is developing her professional qualification at Fisheries Development Institute Department of Oceanography and Environment and she commented: “I am very happy to be one of the winners of this 100 Young Chilean Leaders award that is granted by “Sabado” magazine by El Mercurio. At IFOP, I am working on the project “Monitoring Highly Migratory Resources-Ecosystem Approach”, my work aims to characterize space-time sites of capture and movement of shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) (Elasmobranchii Lamnidae) inside and outside Chilean exclusive economic zone. ”
Beatriz leads Batiscafo foundation, which works to bring attitude changes in citizens’ changes that contribute to marine conservation, through design and development of various education, dissemination and research initiatives, always seeking new ways of approaching topics related to marine sciences to schools and general public, creating practical activities and playful products, seeking to provide meaningful experiences and learning for children, youth and adults.
