It is organized by the Instituto de Fomento Pesquero and the GEF project Humboldt Chile, its goal is to know and to assess the applicability of environmental quality indices in benthic resources of rocky bottoms and soft in the coastal areas of Chile and Peru and experts will participate in Spain, Peru and Chile.

Between the 27 and 30 October 2015 will be held in units of the German Club in Valparaiso, the Workshop “indicators of environmental quality in benthic ecosystems of soft bottoms and rocky seabed of the Humboldt Current”, this is one of the activities considered in the Annual Operating Plan of the draft binational chile-peru GEF-UNDP – Humboldt: “toward an ecosystem approach to management of the Humboldt Current Large Marine Ecosystem”.

The overall goal of the Humboldt project is: making progress toward the management with ecosystem approach for the GEMCH through a coordinated framework to strengthen governance and sustainable use of marine living resources and ecosystem services.

In this project involves the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the Ministry of the Environment, General Directorate of the Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine (Directemar), universities, NGO’s and fishermen’s organizations and the focal point is in the IFOP.
