December 14th, 2022 Mario Loyola

Equipo-de-Ifop-NacionalOn May and June, the Championship of Futsal “Copa Mes del Mar 2016” was carried out, being this year organized by IFOP. The tournament takes place from 7 years ago and brings together some institutions and workers who are linked to the sea and maritime-port activity.

This year, the 8 participating teams are: Subsecretaría de Pesca (SUBPESCA), Servicio Nacional de Pesca (SERNAPESCA NACIONAL and SERNAPESCA REGIONAL), Servicio Hidrográfico y Oceanográfico de la Armada (SHOA), Agencias Rossi (ROSSI), Sudamericana Agencias Aéreas y Marítimas (SAAM) and the Instituto de Fomento Pesquero (IFOP NACIONAL and IFOP REGIONAL).

The qualifying draw was defined by two groups, made up by 4 teams each, playing all against all and two random matches with two rivals from other group, making a total of five matches per group. The matches were held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 19.00 pm in the Fair Play court, located in Phillippi St. # 617 Valparaiso. The ones qualified for the semi-finals with the highest score in Group 1 were SAAM and IFOP NACIONAL, and the teams ROSSI and IFOP REGIONAL for Group 2. By crossed matches, the first pointers of each group SAAM v / s ROSSI played for the first place, and for the second place, the teams of IFOP NATIONAL v / s REGIONAL IFOP.

In a disputed encounter, the team ROSSI won the Cup Championship 2016 and the SAAM team won the vice-championship, with a final score of 6 goals to 2. Meanwhile, the third place was for IFOP National who won by 13 to 7 goals to REGIONAL IFOP.

Edison Garces, championship organizer, said “the Sea Month championship becomes more competitive every year and its seventh version was no exception. On this occasion, the highlighted teams were ROSSI, SAAM and IFOP Valparaiso, who made very good presentations, and motivated their peers of the respective companies to support them during this activity. This year, the organization of the sea month championship was under IFOP responsibility, and as President of the organizing committee, I have to say it was an arduous task, which was favored by the continued collaboration of Instituto de Fomento Pesquero during this championship. ”

Guillermo Moyano, organizer and team member of National IFOP, said “IFOP teams have made an excellent championship, both teams qualified for the semifinals. The championship has had a normal development, with highly motivated and participative people in each one of the matches played. The championship allows us to relate to our peers outside the workplace, generating own feelings about the sport, it is a recreation instance, where we take the time to do other type of activities, in this case, soccer.”

Leonardo Caballero, one of the event organizers and team member of IFOP REGIONAL, stated: “This Sea Month Championship began in 2010 with the participation of 4 teams linked to the fisheries sector, SUBPESCA, SERNAPESCA (2) and IFOP, and the initial idea was to bring together workers and employees of these institutions around sports, who feel passion for soccer (futsal), healthy competition, fair play and camaraderie.”

goleador“In recent years, the championship has grown gradually in interest and level of competition, reaching this seventh version a total of 8 good level participating teams. Our team, formed mostly by Scientific Observers of IFOP San Antonio, was the second time participating, and after having a good start, there were some players injured, which prevented us from advancing to the final stages; so, achieving the fourth place left us with a little flavor. We hope next year to attend the eighth version, obtain a good performance and reach the first place. In 2012, we managed to win the championship with IFOP as undefeated, therefore, no one takes away the right to dream of being champions again.”

Pablo Araya, member of IFOP National team, said “it was a good championship, as organizers think we were up to it. We met the goal of having an alternative living space, sport and recreation.

There were weeks where we live different emotions and looked forward to the next meeting.

No doubt this instance allows closer ties with other institutions related to our work and strengthen our partnership.

This year, both representatives of IFOP won the consolation prize (3 national and 4 regional place) and we got the scorer of the tournament prize, but it remains a thorn for next year to look forward to the prized sea month cup.

Finally, only remains to acknowledge the contribution of our institution and colleagues who supported this initiative unconditionally. I hope this initiative will last over time.”
