To mark the first anniversary of the establishment of IFOP’s Department of Economics and Statistics (DEE), and with the aim of bringing the DEE’s work closer to the entire community, a series of presentations by the researchers and the DEE’s leadership team were held during May and June 2026.
It is worth noting that professionals from various IFOP regions and units participated in the different sessions. In addition, professionals from the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service, universities, and other institutions also participated, which allowed for broad dissemination of the topics presented. Camilo Torres, Head of IFOP’s Department of Economics and Statistics, emphasized that the Webinar Series successfully communicated the methodologies and results of the analyses and consulting services provided by the DEE to the community, presenting them in a clear, simple, and accessible way for all IFOP members and the general public. For this reason, we appreciate the broad turnout and active participation of the attendees, which was key to addressing and highlighting the value of the socio-economic dimension and statistical advice in national fisheries and aquaculture management.
