On Wednesday, September 30, a waste sorting station was installed at the IFOP Regional Office in Biobío—an initiative long desired by the Talcahuano staff.
IFOP researcher Vivian Pezo Erices noted that the Municipality of Talcahuano is promoting a selective solid waste collection campaign—an initiative the Institute has joined with a commitment to actively collaborate in building a cleaner, more sustainable environment. “This action helps reduce the amount of waste we generate, supports natural resource conservation, promotes the circular economy, and extends the lifespan of landfills. We can also bring this habit into our homes, involving our families and teaching them that sorting and recycling waste is a simple practice that can have a positive impact.”
Meanwhile, Field Coordinator Alicia Gallardo Gómez stated that the opportunity to start recycling at the workplace represents a significant step forward in the organization’s commitment to environmental stewardship. “Thanks to the support of the Municipality of Talcahuano, we now have a dedicated station for recyclable waste, along with training that taught us the proper way to sort and manage these materials. This initiative not only helps reduce the waste we generate but also fosters greater environmental awareness and responsibility among the IFOP team. We hope this marks the beginning of a process that allows us to increasingly incorporate sustainable practices into our daily activities.”
Finally, Sergio Flores Claramunt, IFOP’s Regional Director for Biobío, expressed his satisfaction with the successful establishment of this partnership with the Talcahuano Municipality’s Environment Department. We now face a significant challenge as a Regional Directorate regarding waste management—and it is worth noting that we can also bring in waste generated in our own homes.
Because every action counts—no matter how small it may seem—every decision we make contributes to protecting the environment and building a more sustainable future for generations to come.
