A Guatemalan delegation receives training in salmon farming techniques in Chile.

The Fisheries Development Institute (IFOP), together with the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation (AGCID), are carrying out the project “Technological Cooperation for the Promotion of Fish Aquaculture in Guatemala”, focusing on trout farming. Among the most relevant activities of the project are the training of professionals from academia, government, and the productive sector, as well as the installation of infrastructure to develop the trout production cycle at the Center for Marine and Aquaculture Studies of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala.

The project includes a training program taking place from October 13 to 30 at IFOP’s Mariculture Center Hueihue. Attending the training are professionals from the Guatemalan delegation: Edilberto Ruiz Álvarez, Erick Villagrán Colón, Juan Ajpacaja Guachiac, Lylian Méndez Flores, Mabiael Pérez Roblero, and Nataly Donis Guzmán.

The program also includes technical visits to important companies in the sector, such as Salmones Dalcahue Fish Farm, MOWI’s Copihue Fish Farm, AQUACHILE’s Feed Plant, and MULTIX’s Processing Plant, where participants can learn firsthand about production and management processes.
