[:es]170 investigadores del más alto nivel y una existencia de 55 años dedicada a la investigación aplicada en pesca y acuicultura, hacen de IFOP un referente científico imprescindible para asesorar al Estado en el cuidado y preservación de los recursos pesqueros, acuícolas y en la protección del patrimonio ambiental y biológico.
La información biológico pesquera y ambiental que IFOP recoge desde Arica a Puerto Williams es procesada por sus investigadores, e informada a la Subsecretaría de Pesca y Acuicultura, a los Comités Científicos y a la comunidad, a través de exposiciones de libre acceso público.
Anotar la estructura de edades de los peces capturados; su tamaño y peso; de qué se alimentan, su estado de madurez sexual; la proporción de machos y hembras y las condiciones ambientales en que fueron capturados, permite conocer el estado en que se encuentran los recursos objetos de pesca comercial y definir las cuotas de captura recomendadas así como vedas y otras medidas de protección que aseguren la subsistencia de esas pesquerías en el tiempo.
IFOP investiga para proteger y es un actor relevante en relación a lo que hoy se discute en torno al cambio climático y su impacto en los ecosistemas océanicos.

The biological fisheries and environmental information that IFOP collects from Arica to Puerto Williams is processed by its researchers, and informed to the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the Scientific Committees and the community, through exhibitions of free public access.
Write down the age structure of the caught fish; its size and weight; what they feed on, their state of sexual maturity; The proportion of males and females and the environmental conditions in which they were captured, allows to know the state in which the resources are subject to commercial fishing and define the recommended catch quotas as well as closures and other protection measures that ensure the subsistence of these time fisheries.
IFOP investigates to protect and is a relevant actor in relation to what is being discussed today about climate change and its impact on ocean ecosystems.
