The purpose of the Network is to build an area of deep integration to progressively advance towards the better generation of scientific knowledge in fisheries and aquaculture for the sustainable management of the hydrobiological resources of the countries of the Pacific Alliance.
The Network’s objectives are:
- To develop a joint work programme that contributes to achieving the objectives of the Pacific Alliance.
- To identify and prioritize hydrobiological resources of common interest to focus research efforts.
- To harmonize or standardize research approaches, monitoring and sampling protocols and techniques, and research equipment according to the current state of the art of fisheries science and the needs of the region.
- To develop joint scientific programs in fisheries, aquaculture, oceanography and fishery economics.
- To train specialized human resources and strengthen national capacities through the exchange of experts, scholarship programs and training courses.
- To define a strategy for the search for financial resources to complement the actions of the Network.
