History
The Network of Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Institutions of the Pacific Alliance was established within the Ad hoc Group on Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Pacific Alliance, which is based on the Presidential Mandates (Annex 1) of the Declaration of Puerto Varas of July 1, 2016, in the framework of the XI Summit of the Pacific Alliance. The constitution of the Network took place in July 2017 based on the Presidential Mandate contained in the Declaration of Cali of June 30, 2017 (Annex 9.1).
The Network includes the national research institutes of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru whose general mission is to carry out basic and applied research on the renewable natural resources of aquatic ecosystems of the Eastern Pacific to provide the scientific knowledge necessary for policy formulation and decision-making in their respective States. The research institutes of Argentina and Australia participate in the Network as observer members, as well as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
