Fr\u00e1gil, oval, algo globoso, algo trasl\u00facido. Alargado longitudinalmente. Lado umbonal angosto y recto con el umbo saliente. Borde ventral bien convexo y crenulado. Interior lustroso. Exterior con pliegues radiales regulares, cruzados por estr\u00edas de crecimiento (reticulado). Blanco (Forcelli, 2000).<\/p>\n<p><b>DISTRIBUCI\u00d3N<\/b><br \/>\nEspecie de distribuci\u00f3n magall\u00e1nica, subant\u00e1rtica y ant\u00e1rtica. En Chile se registra principalmente entre aproximadamente 45\u00b0 y 55\u00b0 S, incluyendo el canal Smyth, Estrecho de Magallanes, Punta Santa Mar\u00eda, isla Carlos III y bah\u00eda Orange. Tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 presente en isla Malvinas\/Falkland, Buenos Aires y Uruguay (Dell, 1990; Valdovinos, 1999; Aldea et al., 2015). <\/p>\n<p><b>H\u00c1BITAT<\/b><br \/>\nBivalvo marino bent\u00f3nico de aguas fr\u00edas, presente desde ambientes muy someros hasta aproximadamente 598 m de profundidad.
