Dr. Jorge Mardones from  Harmful Algal Blooms Center (CREAN), Puerto Montt headquarters, was invited to this event, and presented the talk entitled: \u201cChilean aquaculture dealing with extreme Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs): Lessons and challenges in a changing weather\u201d. As explained by Dr. Mardones, Chile is a focus of global attention not only because of important mussels and salmonids aquaculture  developed by our country, but also because of the strong economic and health impact produced by Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in the Patagonian fjord zone.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mardones5-e1686235160268.jpg\" rel=\"usa\" rel=\"26636\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-26642 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mardones5-e1686235160268-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mardones5-e1686235160268-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mardones5-e1686235160268-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/mardones5-e1686235160268-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>During the visit to North Carolina University  Wilmington, USA, Dr. Mardones visited the &#8220;Algal Resources Collection (ARC)&#8221; one of the largest and most diverse collections of microalgae in the world.
