This regional initiative had the support of Universidad Tecnica  Federico Santa Mar\u00eda, Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Valpara\u00edso, Universidad de Playa Ancha and the Universidad de  Valpara\u00edso grouped in the  Valpara\u00edso\u2019s Rectors Council  (CRUV) (<a href=\"https:\/\/consejoderectoresvalparaiso.cl\/2023\/01\/18\/con-exito-se-realizo-el-primer-congreso-de-cambio-climatico-del-consejo-de-rectores-de-valparaiso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consejoderectoresvalparaiso.cl<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>CRUV Universities rectors , Science and Techology Ministerial Secretariat  from Central Macrozone Dr. Jorge Soto and a representative of Environmental Ministerial Secretariat  Chilean Navy and National Research Institutes representatives participated in the inaugural ceremony. The best theses related to Climatic Change from  Universities which belong to CRUV were rewarded.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Rivera, event organizer pointed out that this is the first step to integrate and strengthen climatic change issues from regions. This initiative will be repeated in 2024, opening the call at the international level.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Ibarra.jpeg\" rel=\"25988\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-25990 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Ibarra-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Ibarra-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Ibarra-113x150.jpeg 113w, https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Ibarra.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Marine Biologist Manuel Ibarra, in charge of SERNAPESCA  Valpara\u00edso region\u2019s  Marine Parks  explained that it is necessary to address Marine Protected Areas importance  in  Climatic Change mitigation  and biodiversity conservation  in upcoming congresses.<\/p>\n<p>IFOP was represented by  oceanographer Milena Pizarro and Dr. Jaime Letelier, from  its  Fisheries Research Division Oceanography and Environment Department\u2019s Head . Dr. Letelier presented a virtual panel \u201cClimatic change monitoring system for fisheries and aquaculture resilience  in Humboldt currents  great ecosystem (S.A.P.O.)\u201d by authors Jaime Letelier, Andr\u00e9s Garc\u00eda, Sergio Palma ( EDF) and Hern\u00e1n Reyes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/congreso-cruv3.png\" rel=\"25988\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-25991 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/congreso-cruv3-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/congreso-cruv3-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/congreso-cruv3-150x84.png 150w, https:\/\/www.ifop.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/congreso-cruv3.png 921w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Dr. Letelier pointed out data monitoring systems  importance and their inter-institutional and multinational integration with different sectoral objectives, in order to obtain integrated historical information that allows reducing long-term predictive models uncertainty .
